“Early Morning Mists over the River, Yungaburra”

This is a scene I was struck by while driving towards Yungaburra from Atherton. The pink tinged mists were still hanging over the waters of the Barron River in the dip as you approach the volcanic outcrops called “The Seven Sisters”. The golden sun was just starting to light up the edges of the hills and the sky was the most delicate of pinks. I was mesmerised! Later I came back to photograph the scene from Picnic Crossing Road in order to get the correct positioning and character of these famous geological knobs. The old house in the actual foreground has featured before in my paintings as it has a wonderful character from most angles.
