"In the Heat, Gilliat"
Can you feel the heat shimmering off the corrugated iron walls and the hard dry earth. The curved roof of the building in the foreground was probably constructed by cutting an old water tank in half. This method saved rafters and so was a handy one for areas where local straight timber was not common. The small building on the left was probably the butcher's shop. Most properties killed their own stock for meat and had a special small building set by itself with wide verandahs all round where the meat was hung.
